 The Expressionist architecture of lotus temple was built by a  Persian architect Fariborz Sahba who belongs from Canada. the temple is made up of white marble, dolomite and sand. The top view of this temple is looks like half open lotus. the team of 800 engineers , technicians and workers take 10 years to complete this beautiful monument of India. There are 9 reflecting pools which represents the floating leaves, the pools are also help to circulate air inside the temple. From its establishment it has received many awards for its outstanding architecture.

Suraj Kund is a beautiful pond located near Gwalior Fort. The king of 8th century Suraj Sen has received significant position of folklore. According to the story the king was suffered by leprosy and fortunately they met a monk named Gwalipa near Fort.
Sadhu asked to king to drink some water from the pond. The king did so, and the king was cured from leprosy. After that City renamed as Gwalipa and since then it has come to be called the city of Gwalior. Suraj kund is named after the name of the king. Fatehpur Sikri in Agra UP | History, Architecture and Timing

Fatehpur sikri is one of the 35 heritage sites of India which is listed in UNESCO.It is an extension of vindhya range and situated perfectly on the bank of beautiful lake. This place has served as a capital of Mughal Empire in between 1571 to 1585.

History

The city was known as the Sikrigarh and built by  Maharaja Sangram Singh, later in 1569, when Akbar wins the battle he  renamed this city as   "Fatehpur Sikri". It is located at a distance of 35 Km form Agra. The nine jewels and the courtiers pattern  was evolved in this place. Now Fatehpur sikri is considered as best preserved collection of Mughal Architecture.

Fatehpur Sikri Architecture-

Located in a rocky ridge , Fatehpur sikri is  1.9 miles in length and 0.63 miles wide which is surrounded by 3.7 miles wall on 3 sides. It was planned and designed by Tuhir and Dhruv Chawla. It is a perfect mix of Muslim and Hindu architecture along with Jain.  The palace of Fatehpur sikri is made up of Red Sandstone which is formerly known as  "Sikri Sandstone".

Buland Darwaja-

 It is the pride of Fatehpur Sikri and  considered as a  highest gateway in the world, it is an another finest example of Mughal Architecture. It was built by Akbar in 1576 after getting victory over Gujarat.

Panch Mahal-

It is a pyramid style architecture which has 5 stories. The structure is also known as "Badgir" . At the time of King Akbar It is used for  theatrical and musical performances.


Diwan-I-Aam-

A hall for public gathering, Diwan-i-Aam, it is a place where the king used to meet with general public, and heard their petition and give judgment according to the situation. It is a large open space under Fatehpur Sikri palace. 

Diwan-I-Khas-

A private audience hall of King, is situated in the north east of Fatehpur Sikri. It is a plain square building which is famous for its central pillar. Some of the historian think that it was an repository of Gems and King is used to come here for jewels.

Sekh Salim Chisti Tomb -

It was built in 1981 and completely made up of white marble and a perfect blend of Hindu and Islamic Architecture.

Birbal Bhawan-

Birbal is one of the closets minister to King Akbar, the Birbal house is also a place to visit inside the Fatehpur Sikri palace.

Mahabodhi Temple is a sacred place of Buddhist and one of the 35 places of India which are listed in UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. It is located in Gaya  district of Bihar.

History

Mahabodhi temple is the place which has witnessed the rise, fall and rebirth of Buddhism. It is believed that the tree grow on the day.  Every year in  8th of December, Buddhist celebrate the Bodhi day by chanting “Budu saranai”. Delhi is a capital of India, and there are lot of places that are known for the history associated with it. We all know about the Jantar Mantar as a historical places of Delhi. In this post I am sharing some key points about Jantar Mantar, which will show you the importance and objective of Jantar Mantar.   

Jantar Mantar is a observatory which is used for revising the dates and astronomical tables. It was built by Maharaja Jai Singh second for Mughal Emperor Muhammad Shah. The main objective of Jantar Mantar is to know  and keep an eye on the movements of Sun and other planets.




It was built in the year 1724 and it is one of the five places which was built by Maharaja Jai Singh, apart from Delhi the same monuments are also located in Varanasi, Jaipur, Ujjain and Mathura. This  place is protected under ASI act.

Visit Agrasen ki Baoli - A Historical & Haunted Place in Delhi

Delhi was once a land of Maharajas, and they built many monuments whose architecture is always remain a secret, Agrasen ki Baoli is one of them.  It was built by Maharaja Agrasen and later in 14th century it was renovated by Agrawal community. Located near Jantar Mantar, Agrasen ki Baoli is protected by Archaeological Survey of India.  

Agrasen ki Baoli History and Architecture-

This Baoli has a unique architecture & its old design  makes it icing on a cake. This Baoli is 60 meter long and 15 meter wide which looks like a rectangular structure. It has 103 steps, all was made up of red stone. it is assumed that these steps are rebuilt at a time of Tughlaq dynasty.  By the time, some parts of the Baoli is  absorbed in water, but their exists 3 levels which is above the water level.  These arched niches offers travelers to explore this site.



Some Facts to Know about Agrasen ki Baoli

  • In 2012, A postal stamp was issued on Agrasen ki Baoli by Indian Post.
  • People believe that evil spirits reside there, and this is the reason it is listed in haunted places of India.
  • Due to its historical importance, Govt. Of India has protected it under the ASI act, 1958.
  • This baoli is considered as Central Delhi’s oldest monument, and still remains one the best preserved Baolis of the Capital. 
  • Visitor can also spot a small mosque which is located On the west corner of Agrasen Ki Baoli.

Why it is known as a Haunted place?

There are lot of stories which justifies that Agrasen ki Baoli is haunted. According to a story, the black water of this Baoli attracts people to jump over it to commit suicide and the water level goes up whenever the person commit suicide here.  It is a tough task to proof such stories but these strong rumors makes some sense.  The last suicide attempt was made in 2007, when the water level of this Baoli is just 4-5 feet, Strange, Right?

Unfortunately this hilly area is not connected directly by rail link so If you want to  visit Abbott mount from Delhi, the best option for you would be a road trip through national highway 9(Punjab-Uttarakhand),the road trip from Delhi to Lohaghat hardly takes 8 hours.

Distance from Lohaghat- 7 Km
As you reach bus station Lohaghat, you need to carry on your journey on same route of national highway 9 for some 5-6 kilometers, then a take a cut on a motorway, which takes you to your destination, in between this journey you would go through the main market of the small town Lohaghat.
